The GRS and the associated land application system do not require accreditation from NSW Health. An approval to operate a GDD (GRS) and the land application facility (irrigation areas) must be obtained from your local council prior to the installation of the GRS. Similarly the Environmental Protection Agency in Victoria classifies systems such as the GRS as greywater diversion devices (GDD) in their Information Bulletin "Domestic Wastewater Management Series. Reuse Options For Household Wastewater. Publication 812 November 2001" The GRS conforms to the guidelines for greywater handling and reuse. An approval to operate a GDD (GRS) and the land application facility (irrigation areas) must be obtained from your local council prior to the installation of the GRS. The GRS conforms to the performance requirements of the Australian and New Zealand Standard "AS NZS 1547-2012 On-site domestic wastewater management". Local governments, in some states where approval has not yet been granted, may allow the GRS to be installed without state government approval. In this case you will have to contact the relevant local government officer to assess the possibility of getting the GRS installed on your site.
